Alion to launch mobile training for troops

MCLEAN, Va., Nov. 24 (UPI) -- U.S. company Alion Science and Technology announced the launch of a new mobile training support technology for troops in combat theaters.

Alion says it will release its new Internet-based electronic Collaboration Capabilities technology, or eC2, at the Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation & Education Conference, to be held Dec. 1-4 in Orlando, Fla. The eC2 offers deployed troops critical instructions and training in the field through Web-ready cell phones or other mobile devices.

The eC2, designed to integrate with existing Defense Department networked systems, offers soldiers training data that will help prepare them for missions. Officials say Alion's eC2 will be supported by the company's Modeling and Simulation Framework courses.

"Imagine a war fighter receiving critical instructions, even training and experimentation, with the ease of their cell phone or iPod. (The eC2) collaborative training system will enable this capability to become reality," the release said.
