Israel contracts Elbit for display tech

HAIFA, Israel, Nov. 4 (UPI) -- The Israeli air force has contracted Elbit Systems for the company to supply its display technologies for installation with Black Hawk and CH 53 helicopters.

Israel-based Elbit was contracted to supply its Aviator's Night Vision Imaging System/Head-Up Display systems to the Israeli air force. Officials say the ANVIS/HUD display technologies will be integrated into the Israeli air force's Black Hawk and CH 53 helicopters to increase a pilot's situational awareness.

Elbit says its ANVIS/HUD system projects flight data onto the pilot's helmet, increasing visual capabilities in poor light and weather conditions.

"We see the Israeli Ministry of Defense as a key client, and we are very proud of being able to contribute to the safety and air superiority of Israel Air Force pilots," Yoram Shmueli, Elbit Systems Aerospace division joint general manager, said in a statement.
