NEW YORK, Nov. 7 (UPI) -- DC Comics says it will offer its comic books on digital platforms, including Apple's iBooks, Amazon's Kindle, and Barnes & Noble's NOOK e-readers and tablets.

The move marks the first time DC is officially releasing new content through the official stores of the respective devices, SlashGear reported Wednesday.

Previously, DC Comics were available only through the company's own DC Comics app and the Comixology app.

User can now buy the comics directly through their device stores without needing to download and use a separate app.

Seventy DC titles would be available in iBooks, the Kindle store, and the NOOK store, DC Comics said.

The move to release titles as digital content won't detract attention from physical comic book stores but will expand the audience instead, Hank Kanalz, a DC senior vice president, said.
