PALO ALTO, Calif., Oct. 5 (UPI) -- U.S. Internet giant Facebook is celebrating 1 billion users with a new video, saying the site brings people together like bridges, airplanes -- and chairs.
It is the first time Facebook has ever created a "brand video," and it's designed "to express what our place is on this Earth," Facebook head Mark Zuckerberg said.
The video begins with the image of a red chair levitating in a forest, then shows other chairs being used as children play and adults rest, dance and chat, CNN reported Friday.
"Chairs are made so that people can sit down and take a break," a narrator says over a musical accompaniment. "Anyone can sit on a chair. And if the chair's large enough, they can sit down together and tell jokes, or make up stories or just listen."
Doorbells, airplanes and bridges "are things people use to get together so they can open up and connect about ideas and music and other things people share," the narrator continues.
"We're creating this for our users, but we think it's a message that will be interesting and relevant to non-users as well," Rebecca Van Dyck, Facebook's head of consumer marketing, told Ad Age. "We feel like we need to be respectful and introduce ourselves and to say 'This is what we believe in' and 'Come on board.'"
