OTTAWA, Jan. 23 (UPI) -- Private research firm Ipsos said Monday that Canadians are less likely than most to work from their homes.
Ipsos said overall 19 percent of employees in a survey indicated they telecommuted regularly, which is to say they worked in a location other than the company offices.
In Canada, however, only 8 percent of respondents indicated they worked from home or at some other location remote from company offices, Postmedia News reported Monday.
Telecommuting includes phoning in to work or staying in touch with an employer via the Internet.
But the option is more widely offered in Africa, the Middle East and Asia than in Canada.
That isn't to say Canadians would turn the option down. In the survey, 21 percent of respondents indicated they would accept a telecommuting job.
The survey of 11,383 employees was conducted Oct. 7-20.
