The Presidential Action Committee on Power is designed to provide leadership and guidance for the development of the nation's energy sector and will develop the country's general policy directives and strategic focus for the nation's ongoing power reform policies.

The task force's assignment is to draw up an action plan for Nigeria's power sector and to set realistic targets under the proposed present regime's administrative dominance.

Minister of Petroleum Diezani Allison-Madueke said of the proposed reforms in the country's natural gas sector: "The new agreement provides a platform for the immediate roll-out of anew gas price for power. It allows a clear and transparent segregation of value chain by separating the gas transmission agreement from the gas supply agreement thereby enabling transparency in pricing and liability."
