Mountain lion found wandering through Vancouver-area park

May 31 (UPI) -- Visitors to a Vancouver-area park are being warned to use caution after a mountain lion was caught on camera wandering through the park.

The City of Port Moody posted a photo to Twitter showing the cougar that was spotted Tuesday wandering through the southern part of Bert Flinn Park.

"It did not show signs of aggressive behavior and it made an effort to avoid human interaction," the tweet said. "However, If you plan on trekking in this area, please stay alert, keep children near, and keep dogs leashed."

Conservation Officer Todd Hunter of the British Columbia Conservation Service said two cougars were previously spotted walking along some nearby railroad tracks in April.

"Port Moody is an estuary, so it's always an area where we're going to find wildlife," Hunter told the Tri-City News. "They're most often looking for deer and sometimes raccoons and coyotes."
