EASTON TOWNSHIP, Wis., Nov. 21 (UPI) -- Police in Wisconsin shared dashboard camera footage from a bizarre scene where an apparent roadkill deer loaded into a man's trunk turned out to be not so dead.

The Adams County Sheriff's Department said a 59-year-old driver struck a deer on an Adams County road Thursday evening and called the department about 7:25 p.m. to report the deer, which he had loaded into his trunk to take home for meat, had sprung back to life.

The department, which posted an image from a similar scene in 1995 comedy film Tommy Boy starring Chris Farley and David Spade, shared an excerpt from the police report of the incident.

"Caller states he hit a deer earlier and thought it was deceased. He states he put the deer into the back of his vehicle, but once he arrived home the deer was alive and kicking..." the post read.

A follow-up post included video of Deputy Brian Loewenhagen arriving on the scene in Easton Township and helping the driver remove the deer from the trunk.

The deputy prepares to "put her down," but the deer has other plans and runs off into the woods, to the shock and amusement of the two men.

"The deer refused to give a statement and ran into the woods," the post said.

The department said Loewenhagen always seems to end up with the bizarre calls.

"You may remember our Deputy Brian Loewenhagen from previous posts. He was the Deputy who arrested the Intoxicated driver with the beer battered fish fry excuse," the department said. "Things are never boring when Brian is working."
