The witnesses were able to free the wedged cat from the bumper and an animal control officer took the feline for a veterinary examination, which found the cat to be uninjured.
A microchip identified the cat as Gnocchi, a feline belonging to the motorist's next-door neighbor.
The department said the Gnocchi was reunited with his owner and the cat now "acts like nothing ever happened."
