WASHINGTON, Dec. 7 (UPI) -- A dog that was stolen in Miami two years ago was reunited with its owner in Washington D.C. on Saturday.

The dog, a Shih Tzu named Polo, was discovered in a locked crate next to a dumpster on Nov. 25. Thanks to the pet's microchip, staff at Washington Human Society were able to find and contact Polo's owner allowing the two to reunite.

"This is unbelievable," said Polo's owner Jason Brandon, who currently lives in New York. "It's like something you see on CNN!"

Polo was discovered by Humane Law Enforcement officials showing signs of severe neglect, including matted hair and overgrown toenails.

When he was taken into treatment at the Washington Humane society they noticed his chip and were able to find and contact Brandon who made the flight down to be reunited with his pup on Dec. 5.

He explained that Polo had been stolen two years ago while he was in Miami. The Humane Society then conducted an investigation, ruling out Brandon's involvement in the dog's disappearance.

After the reunion, Brandon and Polo returned home to New York where the two currently live together.
