Baby born in car stranded by winter weather in Georgia

SANDY SPRINGS, Ga., Jan. 29 (UPI) -- Authorities in Georgia said a baby was born in her parents' car while the couple was stranded by weather conditions on Interstate 285.

Police said the infant was born about 5:25 p.m. Tuesday with the help of her father and a police officer in Sandy Springs, WGCL-TV, Atlanta, reported Wednesday.

The couple had been headed for the hospital when they became stranded on the interstate by snowy and icy conditions.

Paramedics arrived shortly after the birth of the baby girl and the mother and newborn.
