The dancers, who hailed from 44 countries, followed Riverdance troupe members Jean Butler and Padraic Moyles Sunday in performing a step dance routine to Bill Whelan's Riverdance song on Dublin's Samuel Beckett Bridge, The Irish Times reported Monday. Advertisement "Dancers need a sprung floor," Butler said of the record attempt's location. "And this is the most sprung of a floor I've ever danced on." Organizers said the event set a Guinness world record, beating the 622-person step dance troupe that set the previous record in Nashville. "It's just so fitting that we have the world record here in Dublin, along the banks of the river Liffey, where Riverdance originally started back in 1994," Moyles said. "It should be something that we're all extremely proud of," he said.
