Subscribe | UPI Odd Newsletter Subscribe CHICAGO, July 8 (UPI) -- A Chicago animal shelter said donations have helped it raise money for a new air conditioning system to replace one damaged during a recent burglary. The Animal Welfare League said John Williams' show on Chicago's WGN radio raised $23,000 from listeners in less than 3 hours, the Chicago Tribune reported Friday. Advertisement The shelter, which was burglarized June 30, said it has also received large donations from the Chicago Blackhawks and the LaGrange Pet Parade. Jim McClelland, president of Mack Companies in Tinley Park, said contractors will donate 3-to-5 days worth of labor to install new air conditioning units. "We're so thankful," said Linda Estrada, president and director of the Animal Welfare League. "It's a godsend. It shows that people care."
