FREDERICKSBURG, Va., June 15 (UPI) -- An autopsy confirmed a Spotsylvania, Va., man was mauled to death by his dog, authorities say.
David Quyon Haigler, 38, was found dead in his home Saturday by his 18-year-old son, The Free-Lance Star reported. The police were alerted to the incident at 6 p.m., however, it was unclear when the attack took place, as Haigler was last seen early Saturday.
The man's 6-year-old pit bull was found loose in Haigler's home and would not initially allow the responding officers to enter. There was a second pit bull found chained in another area of the home.
The autopsy showed a clear indication of par marks on Haigler's body and defensive wounds on his hands.
The two dogs were being held at a county animal shelter with unknown fates.
