WATERFORD, Mich., May 23 (UPI) -- A Michigan teenager who wore a $25,000 Versace dress to her prom said her father had entered her into a contest to rent the dress for free.
Mike Staskiewicz of Waterford said he entered his daughter, Kayla, into the contest when he heard the dress, which was worn to an Oscars ceremony by actress Christina Ricci, only came in size zero, his daughter's size, The (Pontiac, Mich.) Oakland Press, reported Monday.
Kayla, a student at Waterford Mott High School, said she was allowed to try the dress on May 12, one day before the prom.
"I was just excited and ready to go to the prom right then and there," the teenager said.
She said the extra special dress helped make her evening more magical.
"It was really hot outside but I felt really pretty," she said. "My mom kept calling me Cinderella."
