MUSIC AND MORE

DOLLY'S NEW ALBUM OUT TODAY

Dolly Parton will spend the summer touring to promote her latest album, "Halos & Horns," which officially was released today.

Most of the tracks are Dolly's new compositions, such as "Shattered Image," a song that takes aim at gossip about her private life.

But entries like "John Daniel" and "These Old Bones" stick to the folksy mountain-music theme she re-embraced in her last two albums, "Little Sparrow" and "The Grass Is Blue."

Dolly uses her vivid imagination and East Tennessee roots to put tall tales to music, spin yarns of broken hearts and childhood memories, and sing about the mountains that inspire her.

She and her eight-piece backup band, "Blu-nique," played NBC's "Today" show last Friday. Wednesday's New York concert is sold out.

Gruene Hall, built in the 1880s, is near New Braunfels in Uvalde County, one of 27 counties declared a disaster area by Gov. Rick Perry.

Texas musicians such as Jerry Jeff Walker and Jack Ingram are regular acts at the Gruene.

KENNY CHESNEY SHOW ROCKED BY KID ROCK

Kenny Chesney fans were treated to a surprise appearance by Kid Rock during Kenny's show in Michigan last Friday.

The rocker, currently on a break from touring, performed the Georgia Satellites' "Keep Your Hands To Yourself" and "Cat Scratch Fever" by Ted Nugent at the show near Detroit.

Rock drove from his home nearby with wife-to-be Pamela Anderson to make the guest shot, which was not the first time he and Chesney have performed together.

The pair recorded a rendition of Waylon Jennings' "Luckenbach, Texas (Back To The Basics Of Love)" for an upcoming album saluting the late country performer.

SHEDAISY KASSIDY'S BRAIDS NOT PERMANENT

SHeDAISY, with their new album debuting at No. 3 on Billboard's album chart this week, is getting more attention all the time.

Fans seeing publicity shots of the Osborn threesome also are noticing something different about Kassidy. Braids.

She says it was a spur-of-the-moment decision to braid her hair when she saw her sister-in-law's braids.

Kassidy admits the braids will give way to a new look sometime in the next few weeks.
