JULIANNA THEORY HIT THE ROAD

The Juliana Theory are hitting the road for a tour of U.S. clubs to promote the upcoming album "Love," due in stores this fall.

The album was produced by former Talking Head Jerry Harrison and co-produced by TJT frontman Brett Detar -- who promises that despite the title of the new set, the band still rocks hard.

"I imagine that some fans are wondering if we have become hippies since the last record," said Detar. "The title has more to do with a broad sense of feeling, and it encompasses most everything involved with this record."

Detar promises that "Love" will be the band's "heaviest record so far."

The summer tour is scheduled to open June 9 in Washington, D.C. and continue through July 18 in New York.

BRANDY SPREADS THE WEALTH

After about 100 radio contest winners attended a baby shower and brunch for Brandy in Beverly Hills, Calif. on Friday, the singer-actress turned around and donated her gifts to the Jenesse Center Inc. -- a shelter founded in 1980 in South Central Los Angeles for women and children who are victims of domestic violence.

Brandy told LAUNCH she decided to make the donation after doing some research into the center, which was founded by a group of women that included four victims of domestic violence.

"Well, my mom had mentioned it to me," she said. "I've always been into battered women, and children, and (have) always been supportive of things like that, charities like that. And I went on the Internet, and I read their site (jenessecenter.org). And what they do for women and what they do for children is just fabulous."

Oscar winning actress Halle Berry has also volunteered her services to the center.

CLOSING THE 'HOLE'

Hole is no more.

Singer-guitarist Courtney Love and band mate Eric Erlandson have made it official. Love issued a statement saying the lack of a deal with a label has made it impossible for the band to go on.

"Since Geffen Records closed during the promotion of our last record, there have been a lot of distractions," said Love. "Universal's lawsuit against us made it impossible for us to find a new record company despite overwhelming interest from other labels. After three years of waiting Eric and I have decided to put Hole to rest."

JAIL FOR HARRELL OF 3 DOORS DOWN

Todd Harrell -- the bassist for 3 Doors Down -- was jailed last Thursday in Pascagoula, Miss. After turning himself into the Jackson County Sheriff's department in connection with an alleged assault.

He was released on $500 bond, after a warrant was issued accusing him of hitting a man at a party earlier in May. According to published reports, Harrell was hosting a party when he saw a man walking around with a tape recorder -- and allegedly knocked one of the man's teeth out when he hit him

The man later said he carries the tape machine because his ability to remember things was damaged in an auto accident.
