The channel will feature a mix of Disney entertainment and Disney information, the Orlando (Fla.) Sentinel reported, similar to the Disney-sponsored "Disneyland" on ABC in the 1950s.
Disney Travel on Demand will debut May 21 on Time Warner Cable and May 29 on Cablevision. The on-demand programming will be free.
Already scheduled are programs such as "Making the Magic," "Disney Fact or Fiction" and "Disney Travel Insiders," Disney Parks and Resorts said. In addition, the channel will draw on celebrities, many of whom participated in Disney entertainment in the past. For example, former 'NSYNC singer Joey Fatone and U.S. Olympic skater Michelle Kwan will host a show called "Dream Makers."
Disney officials said they hope the shows -- a cross between reality TV and travel programs -- will entertain viewers, who will seek more information about what Disney has to offer.
