NEW DELHI, May 14 (UPI) -- India sounded a nationwide alert following serial bomb blasts in Jaipur city Tuesday that killed more than 60 people.
Tuesday's blasts struck within minutes of one another in the historic city that is popular with tourists. The Interior Ministry subsequently sent warnings to all states, asking them to increase security at government buildings and busy markets, The Hindu reported Wednesday.
The ministry also rushed a team from the bomb data center of the National Security Guard to Jaipur following a request from the government of Rajasthan state, where Jaipur is located. A team of Interior Ministry officials was also dispatched to Jaipur, a ministry spokesman said Wednesday.
Indian officials have been tight-lipped about who was behind the blasts, only pointing to outside involvement. A spokesman said a clearer picture would emerge only after an investigation.
