SEOUL, April 4 (UPI) -- South Korea and the United States are seeking summit talks by the end of June, Seoul officials said Wednesday.
"The two countries are fine-tuning each other's position on a summit in the first half of the year," South Korean presidential spokesman Yoon Seung-yong said in a media briefing.
President Roh Moo-hyun's top secretary for foreign and security policy, Yun Byung-se, has traveled to Washington to arrange the proposed summit, Yoon said.
Roh and U.S. President George W. Bush would discuss their alliance following the conclusion of a free trade agreement between the two countries earlier this week, other officials said.
They would also discuss implementation of a recent deal on ending North Korea's nuclear weapons programs, they said.
