Malaysia seeks S.Korea warship

SEOUL, March 12 (UPI) -- Malaysia is seeking to purchase a multipurpose warship made by South Korea's shipbuilder, Seoul officials said Monday.

Malaysia's Deputy Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak, who also serves as defense minister, proposed the deal during a visit to Hanjin Heavy Industries & Construction Co., South Korea's seventh-largest shipyard.

Najib also met South Korean President Roh Moo-hyun Monday to discuss cooperation in the defense industry.

"President Roh asked Deputy Prime Minister Najib to help further expand bilateral relations, and expressed hope that South Korea and Malaysia increase practical cooperation in the fields of defense and energy industries," the presidential office said in a statement.
