S.Korea, U.S. to hold farm talks for FTA

SEOUL, Feb. 21 (UPI) -- South Korea and the United States will hold high-level farm talks in early March to remove hurdles in free trade talks, Seoul officials said Wednesday.

Agricultural issues have been one of the main stumbling blocks in the free trade talks the two countries want to conclude before the end of March.

High-level agricultural officials from the two countries will gather in Seoul on March 5-6, ahead of an eighth round of FTA talks in the same place on March 8-12, officials said. Assistant Minister for Agriculture Trade Min Dong-seok is expected to lead the South Korean negotiators.

At the agriculture talks, the two sides will discuss "all outstanding topics related to" the free trade talks, Vice Agriculture Minister Park Hae-sang told a press briefing.
