Israel, PA see more violent attacks

GAZA, June 6 (UPI) -- Rockets fired by Palestinian militants at Israel injured a woman Tuesday, as an Israeli soldier committed suicide inside a mosque in the West Bank.

The Palestinian News Agency, WAFA, said the Israeli soldier entered a mosque in the village of Aqaba, east of the city of Toubas in the West Bank, after attacking several houses in the town by firing at random, causing panic.

Mayor or Aqaba, Samo Sadek, said that after firing at the houses, the Israeli soldier entered the mosque, "destroying its contents before committing suicide."

Also Tuesday, an Israeli woman suffered light wounds and three others were hit by panic attacks when three Qassam rockets hit the city of Sederot.

Israeli sources said five rockets were fired from north Gaza, two of which landed outside the city.

One rocket hit a house and another a school, the sources said. The rocket attack came a day after two militants from the Popular Resistance Committees were assassinated in Gaza.

In another development, three armed Palestinian groups claimed they detonated an explosive charge near a foot patrol of Israeli special forces, north of Gaza.

A joint statement by Fatah's Al-Aqsa Brigades, the Popular Armed Committees and the Brigades of Martyr Ismail Abu Komsan said the attack was carried out following three days of close monitoring of the movements of the special Israeli forces in the area Atatira, near Beit Lahya.

"The operation in which direct hits were scored, inflicting casualties among the enemy forces, came in response to continuing Israeli assassinations against Palestinian militants," the statement said.
