While Airbus' rival Boeing is not present, many other U.S. companies, including Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, Sikorsky and Bell Helicopter are.

An Air Force C-17A Globemaster III is the only U.S. military aircraft scheduled for flight demonstrations. The rest, including an AH-64 Apache helicopter and an F-16CJ Wild Weasel, will be on display on the ground.

A total of nearly 300 planes and helicopters can be viewed by the public.

The Russian military will demonstrate the maneuvering abilities of its Mig-29M Fulcrum fighter for the first time outside Russia. More than 70 companies of the Russian aviation sector are present in Berlin.

The air show will also see major conferences on the civilian and military aspects of the aerospace industry, and aerospace products and technology.
