Dog finds dead woman buried in Berlin

BERLIN, May 10 (UPI) -- A woman walking her dog found the decomposed body of an unidentified woman buried in downtown Berlin.

The corpse has been buried in the soil for at least one, and at most ten years, officials concluded after a 4-hour autopsy, according to Wednesday's Berliner Zeitung newspaper.

The pedestrian's dog sniffed and scratched at a patch of earth in the Monbijouparc, in downtown Berlin, leading his owner to spot a human arm that looked like a "cut-off twig."

The dog-walker also saw what has been identified as the remains of a strangled woman. She was buried naked and crooked, a snare around her wrist, one hand cut off from her arm and placed next to her head.

The woman's skin "looked like leather," the pedestrian told the newspaper.

Officials suspect the woman may have worked on the nearby Oranienburgerstrasse, a place frequented by prostitutes.
