Funerals Held for Italian Soldiers

Funerals were held in Rome Tuesday for two Italian soliders killed by a roadside bomb last friday outside of Kabul, Afghanistan.

The Taliban claimed responsiblity several hours after the attack, Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera reported.

Four Taliban have been arrested in connection with the bombing, the newspaper reported.

Funeral services were also held today in Verona for an Italian soldiers who died two days ago from injuries suffered during an attack in Nassiriya, Iraq, on April 27, the newspaper reported.

That attack claimed the lives of three other Italian soldiers, according to the Italian newswire ANSA.

A total of six Italians have been killed in Iraq and Afghanistan over the past two weeks.

Outgoing Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi has promised to pull all Italian troops out of Iraq by the end of 2006.
