India: Kashmiri separatists to join talks

NEW DELHI, May 9 (UPI) -- India has said it hopes Kashmiri separatists will play a role in finding a solution to the Kashmir problem ahead of a roundtable meeting on the issue.

"The upcoming roundtable conference on Kashmir is a historic opportunity for separatists to sink their differences and play their role in finding a solution to the Kashmir issue," said Ghulam Nabi Azad, the chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir, adding that the separatists should put aside their differences and contribute to solving the problem.

"The (All-Party) Hurriyat Conference has had two rounds of talks with the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and both sides were satisfied after the latest dialogue. I hope that (separatists) will take part in the next conference," Azad.

The chief minister said his government had completed all the necessary preparations for the meeting, to be held on May 25 in Srinagar.
