LOS ANGELES, Oct. 26 (UPI) -- Fox's signature action series 24 is back with new star Corey Hawkins in the first trailer for 24: Legacy.

The clip, released Tuesday during Game 1 of the World Series, features Hawkins as former Army Ranger Eric Carter as he races against the clock to save the United States from a terrorist threat in place of franchise star Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland).

Alongside Carter are former intelligence officer Rebecca Ingram played by Homeland star Miranda Otto and John Donovan, her senator husband who has presidential aspirations, portrayed by Jimmy Smits (NYPD Blue, The West Wing)

"Together in this fast-paced thrill ride, Carter and Ingram uncover a sophisticated terrorist network that will force them to ask: "Who can we trust?" reads the synopsis that also notes how the new characters will confront "their own identities, families and pasts."

24: Legacy is set to premiere on Fox starting Sunday, Feb.5 following Super Bowl LI and then continue on Monday, Feb. 6.

Previously speaking with USA Today about the series, Hawkins of Straight Outta Compton fame acknowledged he has big shoes to fill when in comes to filing in for Sutherland on the classic real-time drama.

"I was such a fan and still am of the show. The real-time premise changed the face of television," Hawkins said. "The idea of a new hero for a new day sang to me."
