The 23-year-old singer donned the character's signature red dress featuring a white Peter Pan collar for a spoof of the beloved musical. Host Jimmy Kimmel introduced the bit by commenting on rival network NBC's live production of Peter Pan.
"Peter Pan will be played by the very talented Allison Williams, who is a woman," he relayed. "That's great, but tonight I have the honor of announcing that my network, ABC, has decided to top them. On November 3, we will be hearing a live production of the musical Annie, and here tonight to give us a sneak preview, the actor who will be playing the lead role of little orphan Annie... Mr. Ed Sheeran!"
Sheeran almost broke out into "Tomorrow," but left the stage with stuffed dog Sandy in tow. The singer released his second studio album, x, in June.
