LOS ANGELES, Dec. 23 (UPI) -- Nick Nolte has joined the cast of "Gracepoint," the upcoming U.S. remake of the British mystery series, "Broadchurch," Fox announced Monday.

Both shows are about the murder of a young boy in a small coastal town.

Nolte has joined an ensemble that includes David Tennant, Anna Gunn, Jacki Weaver, Michael Pena, and Kevin Zegers, the television network said.

"The DNA of the original is absolutely intact and filtered through a new prism, so it should still feel just as vibrant, and interesting, and strange, and unique, and beautiful, but just in a different setting -- and then it's exploring the dramatic opportunities that that offers up," creator Chris Chibnall told EW.com about the remake this past September.

The U.S. version is expected to start shooting next month.
