LOS ANGELES, Sept. 24 (UPI) -- FX announced Tuesday it has renewed "The Bridge," a drama set on the U.S.-Mexico border, for a 13-episode second season.

Starring Diane Kruger and Demian Bichir, the show has been a ratings hit for the cable network, The Hollywood Reporter said.

"We've been blown away by the compelling performances of Demian Bichir and Diane Kruger and the writing of Meredith Stiehm, Elwood Reid and their team, and are thrilled to be able to continue this journey for another season," FX's president of original programming Eric Schrier said in a statement.
