LOS ANGELES, July 2 (UPI) -- "American Idol" Season 2 winner Ruben Studdard will compete on the next edition of the weight-loss program "The Biggest Loser," People.com said.

The 34-year-old singer has been struggling with his weight for years.

People.com said he became a vegetarian in 2006 and lost more than 70 pounds, but began putting weight back on after he and his wife divorced last year.

Season 15 of "The Biggest Loser" is to premiere Oct. 8 on NBC.
