'Rockford Files' remake in the works

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif., Jan. 11 (UPI) -- NBC has announced plans to remake the 1970s U.S. private detective series "The Rockford Files" and the contemporary British police drama "Prime Suspect."

The announcements for the 2010-11 season were made Sunday by Angela Bromstad, president of prime time entertainment at NBC and Universal Media Studios.

Bromstad said a thriller called "The Event" and an untitled comedy project starring Adam Corolla are also in the works as are new series from A-list writers and/or producers J.J. Abrams, Jerry Bruckheimer and David E. Kelley.
