The 20-year-old New Zealand singer sent fans on a scavenger hunt for clues about the new song.

"AUCKLAND: from 9:30pm TONIGHT, i've organized a few more little glimpses at what's coming. if you want to know more, consult the map.." she tweeted to her 4.5 million followers.

Fans flocked to Herne Bay Beach, Ponsonby and Auckland Town Hall to learn more about the single. They found a sign reading, "She thinks you love the beach, you're such a damn liar" at the beach, and a clip of the song playing at town hall.

NME reported Lorde's mom, Sonja Yelich, and sister, Indy, were present at the Ponsonby location, which featured a car with the words, "I do my makeup in someone else's car" in one of the windows. Yelich refused to comment, except to say she was "excited."

Fans later confirmed the single is titled "Green Light" after seeing the song listed on a radio website. Lorde first teased the single by releasing short, mysterious videos on the website imwaitingforit.com.

"3.2.17 NYC," the footage reads.

Lorde last released Pure Heroine, her debut studio album, in 2013, which includes the singles "Royals," "Tennis Court" and "Team." She will perform on the March 11 episode of Saturday Night Live.
