LOS ANGELES, Dec. 29 (UPI) -- Famed electronic music duo Daft Punk have earned their first U.S. No. 1 hit of their career as guest-stars on The Weeknd's "Star Boy."

The track entered into the top spot this week, knocking "Black Beatles" by Rae Sremmurd, ft. Gucci Mane into the No. 2 spot, Billboard reported.

"Star Boy" remained steadily at the No. 2 spot for eight weeks. The single is off of The Weeknd's third studio album of the same name.

Daft Punk previously peaked at No. 2 with 2013's "Get Lucky," featuring Pharrell off the band's fourth studio album Random Access Memories.

Throughout the group's career, other popular tunes have entered the charts, including their first Hot 100 hit, 1997's "Around the World," and 2001's "One More Time." Both peaked at the No. 61 spot.

This means Daft Punk has waited 19 years to reach No.1 after first entering the top 100.

Daft Punk and The Weeknd have a second track that is also moving up the charts titled "I Feel It Coming" which sits at No. 25.
