Zayn Malik, Gigi Hadid get close in 'Pillowtalk' music video

LONDON, Jan. 29 (UPI) -- Zayn Malik released his "Pillowtalk" music video featuring rumored girlfriend Gigi Hadid on Thursday.

The 23-year-old English singer and 20-year-old American model get close in the video for the single, Malik's first release since leaving One Direction in March.

"Pillowtalk" will appear on Malik's debut solo album, Mind of Mine, which is scheduled for release in the spring. The singer said he spent "countless hours" writing songs for the album in the December/January issue of Fader.

"All the songs are different genres. They don't really fit a specific type of music ... I don't really know what my style is yet," he admitted. "[The record is] a snapshot of my life and the thoughts on my life, my hopes, my aspirations, and my regrets in the summer of 2015."

Malik and Hadid have been linked since November, and were spotted apartment hunting together this month. The singer addressed his relationship with Hadid in an interview Thursday, telling Apple Music's Beats 1 he and the model are "good friends."

Malik was part of British boy band One Direction for five years before abruptly quitting the group's On the Road Again tour in March. He announced he was leaving the band the next week, and called off his engagement to Little Mix singer Perrie Edwards in August.
