'Matilda' to kick off North American tour in LA in 2015

NEW YORK, Feb. 6 (UPI) -- "Matilda the Musical" is to kick off a North American tour in Los Angeles in May 2015, producers announced Thursday.

Technical rehearsals and performances are to first take place in New Haven, Conn., at the Shubert Theater.

After the tour officially opens at the Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles, the show will play in San Francisco, Seattle and Dallas. Full touring schedule and casting will be announced at a later date, the producers said.

Based on the novel by author Roald Dahl, the four-time Tony Award-winning musical opened in April 2013 at Broadway's Shubert Theatre.
