97 eligible for Best Score Oscar

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif., Dec. 23 (UPI) -- The scores from 97 feature-length motion pictures are in contention for nominations in the Original Score category for Hollywood's 84th Academy Awards.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences made the announcement Friday.

The list will be whittled down to five nominees to be announced Jan. 24. Academy Awards for outstanding film achievements of 2011 are to be presented Feb. 26 at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center.
