LONDON, Nov. 17 (UPI) -- The stars of the Broadway production of "Hair" are to move to the Gielgud Theatre in London's West End in April, the musical's producers have announced.

The show was first mounted in 1968 in London where it ran for nearly 2,000 performances.

The revival, which opened in New York last summer, is to premiere in London April 14. It will mark the first time the entire Broadway cast of a show moves to the West End, the BBC said. The production is expected to remain on Broadway with a new ensemble.

"To bring the Public's production of 'Hair' back to London in 2010 means more to me than I can say," Oskar Eustis, the artistic director of The New York Public Theater, told the British broadcaster.

"Little did I think when I was the production runner on the original production of 'Hair' that 41 years later I would be bringing the Public Theater's acclaimed new production back to London," said producer Cameron Mackintosh.
