The preview sees the characters call on medium Carrigan Burke (Jared Harris) after their youngest daughter, Madison (Kennedi Clements), is abducted by the ghosts. The pair's other two children, Kendra (Saxon Sharbino) and Griffin (Kyle Catlett) also experience supernatural phenomena as the group desperately search for Maddie.

Poltergeist is a revisionist reboot of the original film series, and helmed by Gil Kenan (Monster House). Sam Raimi (Evil Dead) produced the movie with frequent collaborator Robert G. Tapert and Roy Lee (The Grudge).

The original Poltergeist was co-written and produced by Steven Spielberg, and inspired sequels Poltergeist II: The Other Side (1986) and Poltergeist III (1988). The trio of films earned a combined $176.7 million at the box office, and the new movie is scheduled for release May 22.
