LOS ANGELES, Feb. 5 (UPI) -- Sam Rockwell and Rosemarie DeWitt star in a creepy first trailer for Poltergeist.

The 46-year-old actor and 43-year-old actress portray Eric and Amy Bowen, parents to daughters Kendra (Saxon Sharbino) and Madison (Kennedi Clements) and son Griffin (Kyle Catlett). The preview sees the couple call on medium Carrigan Burke (Jared Harris) after spirits abduct Madison.

Poltergeist is a revisionist reboot of the original film series, and directed by Gil Kenan (Monster House). Evil Dead director Sami Rami produced the film with frequent collaborator Robert G. Tapert and The Grudge producer Roy Lee.

The original Poltergeist (1982) was co-written and produced by Steven Spielberg, and inspired sequels Poltergeist II: The Other Side (1986) and Poltergeist III (1988). The trio of films earned a combined $176.7 million at the box office.

Rockwell is known for Confessions of a Dangerous Mind and Conviction, and will star with Anna Kendrick in Mr. Right. DeWitt last appeared in Kill the Messenger with Jeremy Renner, while Harris is known for portraying Lane Pryce on AMC series Mad Men.
