NEW YORK, July 8 (UPI) -- Halle Berry says she believes in aliens.

The 47-year-old actress discussed the possibility of extraterrestrial life Monday on The Late Show. Berry appeared on the program to promote her new sci-fi series Extant, and admitted to host David Letterman that she is a believer.

"I don't believe we are the only species in existence," she reveals. "My ego doesn't tell me that we're the only ones who survived...it might take us 20 years to get to those other life forms, but I think they are out there."

Berry portrays pregnant astronaut Molly Woods on the upcoming CBS series. The circumstances of the character's pregnancy are a mystery, as she has been alone in space for over a year.

"The big question is what is this child going to be like?" the actress posits. "You'll have to watch for about twelve shows."

Extant premieres Wednesday on CBS at 9 p.m. ET. The program is executive produced by Steven Spielberg, and co-stars Goran Visnjic as Molly's husband, John.
