Ben Affleck, Rosamund Pike star in dark new trailer for 'Gone Girl'

LOS ANGELES, July 7 (UPI) -- Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike star in a dark new trailer for Gone Girl.

The movie centers on character Nick Dunne (Affleck), who is suspected of killing his wife Amy (Pike) after she goes missing. The dramatic trailer ups the chill factor with a voiceover from Amy's journal, and features the first look at Neil Patrick Narris as her obsessive ex, Desi.

"I finally realized I am frightened of my own husband," Amy writes. "Man of my dreams, this man of mine may kill me."

Gone Girl opens in theaters October 3.
