'Airbender,' 'Eclipse' up for 9 Razzies

HOLLYWOOD, Jan. 24 (UPI) -- "The Last Airbender" and "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse" were each nominated for nine Razzie Awards in Hollywood Monday.

The Razzies recognize the worst in film for the previous year. This year's statuettes are to be given out at a ceremony at Hollywood's Barnsdall Gallery Theatre Feb. 26, the night before the Oscars honoring 2010's best in film are to be presented.

Among this year's Razzie mentions, "Airbender" was nominated for Worst Picture, Worst Screenplay, Worst Prequel, Remake, Rip-Off or Sequel, Worst Screen Couple/Ensemble (the entire cast,) Worst Eye-Gouging Mis-Use of 3-D and Worst Director for M. Night Shyamalan.

"Eclipse" is up for Worst Picture, Worst Prequel, Remake, Rip-Off or Sequel, Worst Screenplay, Screen Couple/Worst Couple (the entire cast) and Worst Director for David Slade.

The other nominees for Worst Picture are "The Bounty Hunter," "Sex and the City 2" and "Vampires Suck."

In the running for Worst Actor are Jack Black for "Gulliver's Travels," Gerard Butler for "The Bounty Hunter," Ashton Kutcher for "Killers" and "Valentine's Day," Taylor Lautner for "Twilight Saga: Eclipse" and "Valentine's Day" and Robert Pattinson for "Remember Me" and "Twilight Saga: Eclipse."

Shortlisted for the Worst Actress dishonor are Jennifer Aniston for "The Bounty Hunter" and "The Switch," Miley Cyrus for "The Last Song," the female stars of "Sex and the City 2," Megan Fox for "Jonah Hex" and Kristen Stewart for "Twilight Saga: Eclipse."

The nominees for the Worst Supporting Actress title are Jessica Alba for "The Killer Inside of Me," "Little Fockers," "Valentine's Day" and "Machete," Cher for "Burlesque," Liza Minnelli for "Sex & the City 2," Nicola Peltz for "The Last Airbender" and Barbra Streisand for "Little Fockers."

The contenders for the Worst Supporting Actor prize are Billy Ray Cyrus for "The Spy Next Door," George Lopez for "Marmaduke," "The Spy Next Door" and "Valentine's Day," Dev Patel for "The Last Airbender," Jackson Rathbone for "The Last Airbender" and "Twilight Saga: Eclipse" and Rob Schneider for "Grown Ups."

The Razzies were created in 1980 as a "logical antidote to Tinsel Town's annual glut of self-congratulatory awards" by John Wilson, author of "The Official Razzie Movie Guide" and "Everything I Know I Learned at the Movies."

Nominees were determined by mailing ballots to 637 voters in 46 U.S. states and 17 foreign countries, organizers said in a news release Monday.
