Two more 'Avatar' flicks on their way

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 28 (UPI) -- Hollywood's 20th Century Fox has announced plans to make two sequels to its blockbuster "Avatar" with James Cameron again set to write and direct.

The Hollywood Reporter said the movies are expected to be shot back-to-back and released in late 2014 and 2015.

The first installment in the visually stunning, science-fiction franchise grossed $2.8 billion worldwide after it was released in December.

"We'll continue to follow the same people on the same planet," the entertainment industry trade newspaper quoted producer Jon Landau as saying Wednesday during Paul Kagan's 3D Media Markets conference in New York. "(But) we might go underwater."

Asked if "Avatar" stars Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana will appear in the sequels, Landau said, "We won't have a problem."
