LONDON, May 24 (UPI) -- Actor-writer John Cleese has announced plans to tour the United Kingdom next year in a one-man comedy show.

The former Monty Python troupe member will be 71 when he starts his first U.K. tour.

Dubbed by the thrice-divorced wit as "The Alimony Tour," the series of eight live shows is to begin in Cambridge in May 2011, the BBC said. Cleese is scheduled to stop in Birmingham, Salford, Liverpool, Oxford, Leeds, Edinburgh and Bristol, as well.

Cleese has described his new show as "an evening of well-honed anecdotes, psychoanalytical tit-bits, details of recent surgical procedures, and unprovoked attacks on former colleagues, especially Michael Palin," the British broadcaster said.
