NEW YORK, March 29 (UPI) -- "Freakonomics" has been selected as the closing screening of the upcoming Tribeca Film Festival in New York, organizers said Monday.

From the team that made "Super Size Me," "Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room," "Jesus Camp," "Why We Fight" and "The King of Kong," "Freakonomics" is to serve as the festival's closing gala April 30.

The 9th annual film series in downtown Manhattan is to run from April 21 to May 2.

Also scheduled to screen at the festival is "Letters to Juliet," a romance starring Amanda Seyfried and Vanessa Redgrave, which will have its world premiere April 25.

"My Own Love Song" -- the first English-language film from Olivier Dahan, director of "La Vie En Rose" -- will have its international premiere as a special presentation at the festival on a date still to be determined. Written and directed by Dahan, the road-trip movie stars Renee Zellweger and Forest Whitaker.

"This trio of films embodies the spirit of diversity that has defined Tribeca through the years," Nancy Schafer, the festival's executive director, said in a statement. "Audiences will be charmed by 'Letters to Juliet,' moved by Jane's emotional journey to redemption in 'My Own Love Song' and glued to their seats during the riveting 'Freakonomics,' which marks the return of some of today's best documentary filmmakers to Tribeca. We are truly honored that they've once again chosen our festival as a platform to share their work."
