STUDIO CITY, Calif., July 9 (UPI) -- Oscar-winning actor Cuba Gooding Jr. says he cried when he realized a Dallas cop he took a selfie with in February was one of the five officers killed by a sniper Thursday night.

"The great @cubagoodingjr . Thanx for taking the pic with my partner and I. Hope your stay in #Dallas was great sir!" Patrick Zamarripa tweeted, along with the photo on Feb. 25.

TMZ caught up with Gooding Jr. Friday night and asked him on video for his reaction to the cop's murder.

"I cried today when I heard that. I cried. That's all I'm saying," Gooding Jr. said before getting in a waiting car.

The actor won his Academy Award for his work in Jerry Maguire. He was most recently seen in the critically acclaimed miniseries The People vs. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story.
