LOS ANGELES, June 24 (UPI) -- Michael Strahan has been enjoying his time off following his May exit from Live! with Kelly & Michael.

"I really haven't had a chance to watch [Live]," but I think I've been working so hard for the last seven or eight years since I retired from football, that it's been a relief," the former NFL star shared during an interview Friday with Chelsea Handler on Netflix's Chelsea.

"I really haven't missed it," Strahan continued about Live. "But I loved it. Don't get me wrong. I loved it. When you get a break, sometimes you kind of go, 'Wow, I kind of needed it.' I needed a break."

Strahan exited Live! in May for an extended role on Good Morning America that starts in September. Currently the 44-year-old can be seen hosting ABC's The $100,000 Pyramid.
