'The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild': Link explores open-world Hyrule at E3 2016

LOS ANGELES, June 15 (UPI) -- Nintendo officially unveiled the next entry in their iconic Legend of Zelda series, Breath of the Wild during E3 2016.

The highly-anticipated title's first serene trailer featured a new, breathtaking open-world Hyrule in which main protagonist Link begins exploring by gliding over a dense forest.

Filled with vast landscapes and areas to explore, Link is seen climbing mountains, sneaking up on a wild horse to capture it, chopping down trees to make a pathway across a bridge and donning a suit of armor to take on a colorful cast of enemies.

A new cooking and hunting mechanic was also introduced in which Link will have to cook his own food to gain health in order to survive in the wild.

"Step into a world of discovery, exploration and adventure in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, a boundary-breaking new game in the acclaimed series. Travel across fields, through forests and to mountain peaks as you discover what has become of the ruined kingdom of Hyrule in this stunning open-air adventure," reads the title's official description.

As the trailer concluded, the series signature Master Sword was shown, buried deep into a stone.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild still has no official release date but is being developed for the Nintendo Wii U and the companies next console, codenamed the NX which is due to launch in March 2017.
